Tweet me baby one more time!
From the “who really cares page” it appears that Britney Spears has started a Twitter page. (You can find here at http://twitter.com/therealbritney.)
I think that it’s great that a celebrity wants to use something like Twitter to keep her fans in touch with what she’s doing, but this isn’t the way to do it.
First off, at least some of the tweets are posted by someone else (and state it). At least you know that Britney isn’t really putting them out. I like the honestly, that’s a plus.
The downside is that if you look at the tweets they have no personal feel to them. Ever post feels like a little advertisement for Britney. Twitter is designed to be from your point of view. It’s suppose to your thoughts, feelings, views, opinions, and whatnot. It’s designed to be little droplets of you.
If this was 10 years ago, Britney would bring a HUGE following to Twitter, but not so much now. She might be the first celebrity that can help bring Twitter into the mainstream though.
Honestly, I would rather following some “no name” person on Twitter who has great tweets instead of a celebrity just trying to sell a few albums.
