It’s a small lie after all

Once in a while, I come up with little stories to see if people believe them. (Afterwards, I tell them the truth.)

Here’s one of those stories.

Back in 1994, while I was in the Air Force, I was at my friend, Earl’s room.  He was watching “The Lion King” and there was a scene where the parrot sings “It’s a Small World.”

I told him that I couldn’t stand that song, because when I was five years old my parents took me to Disney World.  While we were there we went on the “It’s a Small World” ride.  (If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a boat ride that travels around the world with all the little children singing the song.)  Well, I told him that when we went on the ride we got stuck inside the ride for a half hour hearing that song playing over and over again.  I said that the song got stuck in my head for a while and I can’t stand listening to it anymore.

The look on his face was priceless.  Of course, I told him that I was messing with him.

(Footnote: Many years later I took my son, CJ, to Disney World and we went on the ride.  WE GOT STUCK IN THERE FOR 15 MINUTES!!!  Fortunately, after a few minutes they did shut the song off.

Be careful what you tell people, because it might some back and get you.)
