Is Hitler home?
On last week’s Average Joe Show podcast, Ward and I discussed how Adolf Hitler Campbell and his ‘Nazi-esque’ named sisters were taken out of their NJ home because their names are a form of child abuse. (This was the third week we had a Nazi related story. Hopefully, the last.) On the podcast, I mentioned that descendants of Adolf Hilter moved to the United States and changed their last name from Hitler to something else because the word “Hitler” has a bad stigma attached to it, for obvious reasons.
So, it made me wonder – is there anyone else out there that still use the Hitler name? So, I went to SuperPages and discovered that there are 7 people in the United States that have Hitler as their last name! Fortunately, none of them have Adolf as their first name.
Now, my question to you, is why would someone still have Hitler as their last name? Granted he’s been dead for more than 60 years, but his legacy still lives on. People aren’t going to forget who Hitler is for a long while.
Even, if their last name has been that for centuries, you would still think that they would change it anyways. It doesn’t cost that much to change your name, so I don’t know why anyone would keep it. Hopefully, these 7 people are very old and don’t want to hassle with changing their name and if they have any children they had already changed it.
Just a little ‘food for thought’ for you today.
