I was sitting here watching TV today and this commercial came up:

Now, commercials for “zit cream” & cleansers have been on TV since before I could even get pimples, but now the drug companies are trying to encourage teenagers to go and get their medicine to use for this issue.

It’s bad enough that these drug companies have been trying to encourage consumers to go to their doctors and ask for pills to help cure them of medical problems that they might not even have. That’s wrong in of itself, but now aiming for the teenage market is just disgusting. This just shows you how greedy these big pharmaceutical companies are that they will do what they can to get anyone to take their pills. I wish that these “drink the Kool-Aid” commercials would just go away.

One thing that should be done is to have stricter regulations as to what commercials should be allowed on TV. I have no problem with any commercial that’s on TV to encourage people to purchase a product, but I think that it should be made unlawful for commercials like this to target teenagers.

If the drug company wants to advertise it’s anti-acne medicine on television; that’s fine. They should just aim it at the twenty-something audience instead. Put a college age student in the commercial and avoid using the word “acne”. To me, the word “acne” refers to something a teenager would get. Maybe changing it up and using “blemishes” or “outbreaks” instead.

The beer companies are allowed to put their commercials on TV but don’t encourage people that are underage to drink. Why can’t the pharmaceutical companies not be allowed to target their medicine to minors?

That’s just my two cents.

Every time I stay up late, between the hours of 2 am and 6 am this commercial shows up:

This commercial reminds me of one of those gimmicky pitches that you see at the kiosks at the mall or a county fair. The guy who is pushing this product is very good at it, but he kind of looks scary to me. Couldn’t they find someone else who is more pleasant looking on TV?

No matter, how they push this product is still looks like a cheap product. I love how these commercials try to make it sound like YOU REALLY NEED this product in your life and how did you ever live without it? It cracks me up when they say that you spend “$20 a month on paper towels.” Really? What kind of slob are you if you use that many rolls of paper towels in a month. Would someone really rather pull out a ShamWow to clean up a mess or just grab a few paper towels? Honestly, the ShamWow needs to be washed out and hung to dry when you’re done using it. Paper towels – welcome to the trash can.

And you know when a product is really good (sarcasm here), they always double the order. So you know this is one of those great things out there! And the deal only lasts 20 MINUTES! Everytime I see the commercial you get those 20 minutes – EVERYTIME!

And the ‘testimonials’ they give are hilarious. Especially those two women who have to say “ShamWow” together. Like that really makes me want to get the product even LESS!

I really enjoying watching late night television because of these great commercials that you see.

Yesterday, I was surfing the ol’ World Wide Web and I came across a tweet linking to this video.

The Screen Savers was, in my humble opinion, the best tech show that every made it to TV. The chemistry of the people and the energy that eminated from the fact that show aired live made it something unique.

And old alum of the show, Tom Merritt (currently working at CBS owned CNet), uploaded this full episode of the show for everyone’s enjoyment.

Well, that did it for me. For the next 40 minutes I was glued to my laptop screen watching this 8-year old episode of the show.

This was the first time, that I know of, anyone has uploaded and entire episode (in good quality too) of this show online for people to watch.

Whenever I see clips of this show it brings back all the great memories, but also it gets me depressed. It’s like looking at old pictures of long lost friends that have passed on. Now, I know that you aren’t dead, but that one special moment in time will never be recreated ever again, even if you were all in the same room, it just wouldn’t be the same.

I like Tom Merritt, but after watching this episode he got me upset at him. Damn you Tom Merritt, damn you straight to the fiery pits of Packard Bell!

(P.S. Tom – if you have anymore of these episodes that you can upload, please let me know, I’d love to watch them too!)
