The lifespan of a balloon

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 20, 2008 in Life, Uncategorized

As I was at my son’s football banquet on Sunday, I was watching the kids running around with balloons hitting each other and having a good time.
Then, I thought to myself: “How long will it be before one of them pops?”  Within a few minutes a loud BANG was heard throughout the hall.
So, I sat [...]

What’s the purpose of handles on doors?

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 19, 2008 in Weirdness

As I was leaving work I noticed that our fancy door has handles on both sides of it.  Each side also has a direction of what to do.
Now the door can only be pulled on one side, and pushed on the other.  Why put a handle on the push side?  That makes no sense to [...]

It’s a small lie after all

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 18, 2008 in Stories to mess with people

Once in a while, I come up with little stories to see if people believe them. (Afterwards, I tell them the truth.)
Here’s one of those stories.
Back in 1994, while I was in the Air Force, I was at my friend, Earl’s room.  He was watching “The Lion King” and there was a scene where the [...]

Yesterday, my son, CJ, had his football banquet.
It was a nice event.  They had it set up banquet style with pizza and baked ziti and tons of snacks and deserts.  If you went away hungry it was your own fault.
Of course, that main event of the day was the handing out of the awards to [...]

The prehistory of the IM

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 15, 2008 in Childhood Memories, Internet

Most people that have been online have used an instant messenger at one time or another.  But, if you think about it, the IM has been around a lot longer than that.
Go back to when you were in elementary school (people my age or older will understand this more.  When you used to sit in [...]

Like, OMG!

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 14, 2008 in Childhood Memories

Something very strange happened when I was in sixth grade.
It was sometime between 1983 and 1984, when this strange even occurred – all the girls changed. One day, they were all ‘normal’ then a switch was hit and they started speaking a new language.
Enter the Valley Girl.
The Valley Girl was this strange new language that [...]

Point of view

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 13, 2008 in money

As I driving to work this week I finally saw that gas had gotten under the $2 mark.  I was so excited that it got down that far.
I thought that it was funny that a few years ago the gas prices were climbing to the $2 mark quickly.  I remember how we all panicked about [...]

Twitter can serve a purpose

Posted by Corey Charette on Nov 12, 2008 in Twitter

Twitter is one of those interesting websites that only a small part of the Internet knows about it.
Some time ago I got a tweet from one of the people I follow telling me about a missing child, with a link with more info.  I, of course, tweeted it myself to help get the word out.
I thought [...]
